The Baltimore Ravens came into existence in 1995 when Art Modell, then owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced his intentions to relocate his team to Baltimore. Controversy followed and as a result an agreement was reached between representatives of Cleveland and the NFL. The Cleveland Browns' name, colors, uniform design, and franchise records would remain in Cleveland. Art Modell's new Baltimore team would be regarded as the "reactivated" Cleveland Browns and although they retained all of their current Brown player contracts they would officially be the expansion team, a new franchise. The Ravens originally played their home games at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium (once home to the Baltimore Colts.) They have since moved to their own new stadium, M & T Bank Stadium, at Camden Yards. The Ravens are currently one of only four teams to win in their lone Super Bowl appearance. (Defeating the New York Giants in 2000 in Super Bowl XXXV.) After finishing 12 - 4 in the 2010 regular season the Ravens hope to capitalize on their success for the 2011 season. Buy your Raven tickets today. Go Ravens!

Del Rio “got tired of apologizing” for loss to Ravens

    Tuesday, May 21, 2013

The Broncos continue to deal with the aftermath of a special season that went awry during a divisional-round double-overtime playoff loss to the Ravens, fueled by a 70-yard touchdown pass allowed by the Denver defense in the final minute of regulation. Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was sorry for what happened.  But then he got…

    Ravens sign fourth-rounder John Simon

    Tuesday, May 21, 2013

The Ravens, one of the first teams to begin signing draft picks, have struck a deal with another rookie, announcing the signing of outside linebacker John Simon on Tuesday. Simon (6-2, 260) earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior at Ohio State in 2012, recording nine sacks. The Ravens selected him…

Deonte Thompson getting noticed in Ravens receiver competition

    Tuesday, May 21, 2013

The Ravens traded Anquan Boldin to the 49ers earlier this offseason, leaving them to sort through the rest of their roster to find receivers to play alongside Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones this offseason. Boldin led the team in both catches and receiving yards last season, so there’s a big hole to fill even if…

    Ray Rice’s home burglarized

    Monday, May 20, 2013

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was the victim of a burglary this weekend as his Maryland home was broken into and several things were taken from the residence. According the Associated Press, Rice had $2,000 and a pair of guns stolen from his home Friday night. Rice was out-of-town but a friend was staying…

Flacco signs pledge to not use “R” word

    Monday, May 20, 2013

As the title to this blurb indicates, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has signed a pledge to not use the “R” word. And, no, it’s not Redskins. During the week preceding Super Bowl XLVII, Flacco called the idea of playing a Super Bowl in New Jersey “retarded.”  He immediately corrected himself, and he apologized for it…

Ravens have tough decisions coming on Suggs, Ngata

    Monday, May 20, 2013

The Ravens overhauled their defense this offseason, without being awash in salary cap room. They did it by knowing when to let go, trading expensive-but-old Anquan Boldin, cutting Bernard Pollard and holding the door open for free agents Dannell Ellerbe, Paul Kruger, Ed Reed and Cary Williams. And with more big moves on the horizon…

Broncos still sticking with Rahim Moore

    Sunday, May 19, 2013

On Monday, the Broncos will practice for the first time as a team since capping a stellar regular season with an epic postseason collapse, thanks to a 70-yard touchdown pass that allowed the Ravens to force overtime. The throw from Joe Flacco landed in the hands of Jacoby Jones because Denver safety Rahim Moore jumped…

Ravens suspected Reed had hip problem, Texans apparently didn’t

    Friday, May 17, 2013

There’s an intriguing post-script when it comes to the recent news that Texans safety Ed Reed needs hip surgery that could cause him to miss part of training camp. We’re told that the Ravens, while not specifically aware of the extent of the problem, generally knew that Reed’s hip was bothering him.  The Texans apparently…

Rolando McClain: I’m focusing on getting my personal life together

    Thursday, May 16, 2013

On Wednesday night, a source close to linebacker Rolando McClain told PFT that McClain’s decision to retire was spurred by a desire to clean up his personal life before thinking about getting back onto a football field. On Thursday, McClain told the world the same exact thing. McClain released a statement to PFT and other…

Ravens officially place McClain on reserve/retired list

    Thursday, May 16, 2013

Well, that was fast. On the same day that 23-year-old linebacker Rolando McClain announced his retirement from football, the Ravens shifted him from the active roster to the reserve/retired list. The placement of McClain on Wednesday’s official transaction list means the move was made before the close of daily business at 4:00 p.m. ET By…
