Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints Tickets

Drew Brees, QB – Saints fans could finally relax this offseason only after Brees ended a prolonged contract dispute and rightfully became one of the highest paid players in the NFL. All Brees has done during his time in the Big Easy is take his franchise to unprecedented heights, including a Super Bowl victory after the 2009 season and breaking Dan Marino’s season passing yardage record in 2011 with 5,476 yards. Brees is one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the history of the league, has incredible touch and timing on his throws, and is great at spreading the ball around to a variety of playmakers. Despite standing just six feet tall, Brees has already carved out a Hall of Fame worthy career, and is still at the top of his game.

Jimmy Graham, TE –Few people expected Graham to ever be this good, and even fewer expected him to reach such a high level this early in his career. One of the great success stories of the NFL, the former Miami basketball star only played one year of college football before being drafted by the Saints in 2010, and has quickly become one of the best at his position in the league. In 2011, Graham hauled in 99 passes for 1,310 yards, and was just edged out by the Pats’ Rob Gronkowski for most yards by a tight end in NFL history. A massive target at 6-7, 265 pounds, Graham also displays the athleticism and hand-eye coordination you would expect out of a former hoops standout. The sky is the limit for the budding superstar.

Jahri Evans, OG – Guards are one of the most overlooked positions in the NFL, but Evans has risen quickly from small-school standout to arguably the most dominant guard in the game. Adept as both a pass protector and run blocker, Evans has started every game since his rookie season in 2006, and was rewarded with one of the largest contracts ever for an offensive guard. He should continue to make the lives of Brees and other skill players easier for years to come.

  • Football is Finally Back

Will Smith | New Orleans Saints Tickets

That’s right, feel free to run laps around your room now because America’s most popular sport is finally back; and no offense to baseball, but thank goodness.  The New Orleans Saints had their pre-season opener at the New England Patriots last night, ushering in the beginning of the 2012 NFL season.  Considering the turbulent off-season that the Saints have had to endure, many were unsure as to how they would perform in their first game-type situation and one of those penalized for the upcoming season put his mark on the game early.  The Saints massive defensive lineman Will Smith who is suspended for the first 4 games of the 2012 regular season had a crushing sack on the Patriots Tom Brady, forcing him to fumble the ball, in the first quarter.  The Patriots defense had its fair share of outstanding plays though intercepting New Orleans twice including one by safety Patrick Chung.  Though the Saints won last week in the Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals 17-10 with quarterback Drew Brees going 4-5 with a touchdown in one drive where, conversely, against New England he only went 1-4 in two series.  Not quite the offensive shoot-out we expected from the teams who were among the best in point production last season.

The Saints struck first, scoring a field goal in the first quarter and maintaining a 3-0 lead until the third quarter.  The Pats stormed back in the third quarter with a 97-yard drive led by back-up Brian Hoyer to Britt Davis for a 3-yard score.  This gave New England a 7-3 lead that would end up being all they needed in this defensive battle as they went on to win 7-6 due to one more field goal in the fourth quarter from the Saints.  With both of these teams having staged interactive practices together it is no surprise that, although a “meaningless” game, the score was so close as well as the total yard production with the Saints edging the Patriots 280-279.  Ultimately, it most definitely was the first game played for these teams in almost half a year so rustiness was to be expected but do not for a second sleep on these two franchises who have both won Super Bowl Title(s) in the modern era.

  • Saint’s Reach Deal With Their Savior

Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints Tickets

After an off-season that has been an emotional roller coaster for many individuals involved in the Saints organization, a shiny beacon of hope has now arose breathing new life into the New Orleans community.  Wearing a black shirt with the phrase “#NOLALOVE” (standing for New Orleans love) across the chest, Brees was undeniably pleased that his long contract battle with the Saints is over as he can now focus all of his efforts on OTA’s and getting ready for the 2012 season.  New Orleans can finally move forward now as they locked down the NFL regular season passing yards record holder and the franchises only Super Bowl MVP in their history to a 5 year, 100 million dollar contract.

Ever since coming to New Orleans in 2006, Brees has had quite possibly the most substantial effect on a city than any other professional athlete of this generation.  After the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans, Brees and the Saints became the face of an entire communities struggle and helped to begin the long road towards rebuilding a city that had been almost completely submerged in water.  Ever since then the future hall of fame quarterback has won several awards and earned accolades for his professionalism on and off the field.  These include being selected as an All-Pro 4 times, back to back NFC MVP Awards, 3 time NFC Offensive Player of the Year, twice the AP NFL Offensive player of the year as well as his most prized possession being his Super Bowl XLIV title along with his Super Bowl MVP Award.  Furthermore, Brees took his game to the next level last season as he became the quickest player in NFL history to throw for over 40,000 career yards which was due in large part to his breaking Dan Marino’s single season passing yards mark by throwing for 5,476 yards.

It was an essential no-brainer for the Saints to explore every possible scenario for re-signing Brees who could have explored other options but in the end chose to stay loyal demonstrating why he is so unanimously adored league wide.  Among all of his accomplishments what still burns brightly in the minds of Who-Dat nation is the teams remarkable run en-route to winning the franchises first Super Bowl.  Brees has exceeded all expectations that were surrounding him upon his leaving the Chargers to go to New Orleans.  He had suffered an injury in his last game as a Charger and some theorized he would never be able to play football again but he has done that and so much more for the NFL collectively by showing that great people exist in this, an era filled with scandals and controversies.

  • Top New Orleans Saints' of All Time

In honor of another fantastic New Orleans’ Saints season as well as the 2013 Super Bowl being held in the Superdome once again, we are paying tribute to the greatest players to ever wear a Saint jersey.

Darren Sharper | New Orleans Saints Tickets

    5. Darren Sharper, Safety:

Though Darren Sharper only played two seasons for the NFL Saints, in those two years he accomplished more than most of his predeccors could have even dreamed of.  During the 2009 season Sharper set many Saints’ franchise records that will most likely stand forever.  These include the longest interception returned for a Touchdown (99 yards) and most interceptions returned for a touchdowns in a season (3).  As well, he set an NFL record after getting 9 interceptions with a cumulative 376 return yards (record).  He as well was one of their most dominant defensive players when they won the Super Bowl.

Deuce McAllister | New Orleans Saints Tickets

    4. Deuce McAllister, Runningback:

After being drafted in 2001, he became the first Saint to rush for 1,000 yard in three consecutive seasons.  Though his career was cut short due to injury, McAllister went to two Pro-bowls, earned two All-pro selections was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV championship team and as well is the New Orleans Saints All-Time leader in rushing yards (6,096) and touchdowns (55).  He is widely considered one of the most influential Saints of all time.

The Dome Patrol | New Orleans Saints Tickets

    3. “The Dome Patrol”, Linebackers:

“The Dome Patrol” refers to the reign of 4 linebackers (Vaughn Johnson, Sam Mills, Rickey Jackson and Pat Swilling) who all played together from 1987-1994.  During their tenure the Saint’s earned their frist ever play off birth, and made the playoffs four different times.  Furthermore, they earned one division title and led the NFL in points allowed in consecutive seasons (1991-1992).  They tallied 27 games of allowing 10 points or fewer and posted 5 shut-outs over the 7 year career they all shared in New Orleans and as well, all 4 were selected to the 1992 Pro Bowl; making them the first linebacking corps in history to do so.

Archie Manning | New Orleans Saints Tickets

    2. Archie Manning, Quarterback:

The #2 overall selection of the 1971 Draft, Manning was undoubtedly the greatest QB in Saint’s history, that is until our #1 came to town.  He played with New Orlenas for over 12 season and accumulated 2 pro-bowl selections as well as an NFC Offensive Player of the Year award in 1978.  He is largely considered the first player to bring the Saint’s to the national stage by his playing abilities.

Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints Tickets

    1.Drew Brees, Quarterback:

Drew Brees has been playing with the Saints since 2006 and since then has been two four Pro-Bowls, a Super Bowl MVP and champion, twice named the NFC MVP, AP Male Athlete and Sportsman of the year in 2010, and is the All-Time single season passing yards leader as of last season with an unbelievable 5,476 passing yards in the 2011-2012 NFL regular season.  More importantly though, Drew was the face of the entire city of New Orleans struggle, and eventual conquering of the effects of Hurricane Katrina.
