The Detroit Lions were originally based in Portsmouth, Ohio and called the Portsmouth Spartans. Because of difficulty surviving in a small town during the Great Depression they moved to Detroit in 1934. The Lions have won four NFL Championship games prior to the Super Bowl era but have yet to qualify for a Super Bowl. The Lions hold the second longest losing streak in NFL history losing 19 straight games from 2007-2009. In 2008 the Lions became the only team in the NFL to lose all of it's 16 regular season games despite winning all of their preseason games that year.
