The Seattle Seahawks joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1976 and played it's first game against the San Francisco 49er's in August of the same year. The Seahawks are the only team in the NFL to switch conferences twice in the post-merger era. The franchise began play in the NFC West and then moved to the AFC West after playing one season. This was so that as an expansion team they would be able to play every team in the NFL at least one time. In 2002 the Seahawks returned back to the NFC West and remain there today. Seattle has won seven division titles in their franchise history and they won the NFC Championship game in 2005. They reached Super Bowl XL but lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in what many thought was a very controversial game. The Seahawk fans have played a major role in the success of the Seahawk home games by making the Kingdome ( Seattle's home stadium) the loudest stadium in the NFL. On December 12, 1984 the Seahawks retired the number 12 and since then #12 jerseys have been sold by the team and worn by Seahwak fans. In 2010 Seattle became the first ever team in the NFL to win their division and a playoff spot while having a losing record. With the leadership of coach Pete Carroll the Seattle Seahawks look forward to an exciting and successful 2011 season. Buy your Seahawk tickets today! Go Seahawks!
