Originally known as the Houston Oilers the team began play in 1960. The team relocated from Houston, Texas to Nashville, Tennessee in 1997. At first the team played it's home games at Liberty Bowl Stadium in Memphis and after one season would relocate to the newly built LP Field. For the first two seasons the team was known as the Tennessee Oilers. Playing on Nashville's Greek influences the name Titans was chosen exemplifying power, strength, knowledge, and excellence. In January of 2000 in a play that would later be dubbed the "Music City Miracle" Kevin Dyson returned a lateral on a kickoff return with only 16 seconds left in the game and gave the Titans it's first playoff victory in Tennessee. The Titans would later reach Super Bowl XXXIV only to fall short as they were defeated by the St. Louis Rams, 23-16. With the help of head coach Mike Munchak the Titans are looking forward to a productive 2011 season. Buy your Titans tickets today! Go Titans!
